Creating a Website Template in Visual Studio 2008 on Windows Vista

These instructions show how to create and import a Website template using C# in Visual Studio 2008 running on Windows Vista.

  1. Create a new Website in Visual Studio 2008
  2. Set it up how you wish
  3. Choose File -> Export Template
  4. Save the Template (zip) file
  5. Move the template zip file into:
    • c:\Users\<<username>>\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual C#

To use it, restart Visual Studio and choose File -> New -> Web Site
